Coach Hans had five goalkeepers under his charge last term - Paul Robinson, Radek Cerny, Ben, Robert Burch and Tommy Forecast - with Robbo again ever-present in the Premiership and Radek playing on five occasions.
Ben arrived from Sunderland in January and was an unused substitute against Southend in the FA Cup and SC Braga in the UEFA Cup, although he played six times for our reserves.
Ben Alnwick (unused substitute 2 times)
Hans Segers: "I saw Ben a few times before he joined us. He got into the first team very early at Sunderland, he actually played against us at White Hart Lane and did well. As a 19-year-old he was a mature goalkeeper as you watched him play and that’s a credit, if people are watching you and think you’ve been around for a lot longer.
"He’s a big talent and can go a long way. It was a huge jump from Sunderland to Spurs. He was in the comfort zone, his mates were there, his family, so to come a few hundred miles south to London, a massive club where he’s the number three, it’s a big decision to make.
"His decision was that he wanted to become a better goalkeeper and to push Paul Robinson in a couple of years time. The way he trained and played he could well do that."
