Keane to sharpen up

Posted on 18 September 2002  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Robbie Keane describes himself as about only 90 per cent match fit and says he needs more games to sharpen up.

Our new striking recruit made his first start for the club in the 3-2 win over West Ham on Sunday - only his second start of the season so far.

His other came in the previous week's internationals, where the Republic of Ireland fell to a 4-2 defeat to Russia in Moscow.

"I enjoyed the game on Sunday, although I'm going to need a couple more games to sharpen up," declared Robbie. "I've only started two games this year - one for Ireland and against West Ham.

"I'm fit, but I wouldn't say I'm 100 per cent match fit yet - about 90 per cent at the moment."

Robbie was happy to discover that the White Hart Lane crowd took to him and his style of play during his Spurs debut.

"From day one the fans have been brilliant to me, right from when I came on the pitch against Southampton."
