Robbie Keane has played with a few top central defenders in his career so far and ranks Ledley King up there with the best.
Ledley has been an awesome presence in the heart of our defence over the last season and his displays were rewarded with the club captaincy following the departure of Jamie Redknapp back in January.
The 24-year-old seems to have grown in stature since making his competitive England breakthrough with a comanding performance against France at Euro 2004 and he was an ever-present for us last season.
Robbie reports he was receiving rave reviews over Ledley from a former Wolves teammate even before he joined he the club.
"He has always been a great player from when I've seen him - Dean Richards told me how good he was then.
"He is superb in training and games and is now doing a tremendous job having taken over the armband. He is a quiet lad, but leads by example and that is the most important thing.
"I have now played with Jonathan Woodgate, Rio Ferdinand and Ledley - there is not much difference between them. They are all world class defenders, Ledley gets in the national squads now and when he has played for England he has done ever so well."
Robbie also reserved a mention for another player now in the England fold - Michael Carrick.
"He is an excellent player and can see things on the pitch that maybe other people cannot see. He has come into the team, taken his chance and been tremendous for us."
