Goalkeeper Kasey levelled Tony Meola's record of 32 when the US beat Martinique 2-0 in the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Monday.
He will go past Meola's mark if he keeps either Canada, Costa Rica or Cuba - that group is yet to be decided - at bay in the quarter-finals of the competition on Saturday.
"It's not important, but it's nice, especially since it took only took me 64 games," insisted Kasey. "But I think the defense has always played extremely well in front of me.
"I had no I was even close until after the game in Seattle. Until then I didn't' even know how many caps I had.
"Now that it's there, I'm proud. I'm proud of my career that I've had with the national team. It's nice to have that record, and I'm happy to have been able play behind some very good defenders and very good teams."
Kasey Keller says he's proud to have caught up with America's all-time clean sheet record - a record he can topple on Saturday.
