The award consigned us to a narrow defeat to Birmingham on day one of the season and Kasey, who has not enjoyed much luck with penalties in recent times, very nearly got across to palm away the midfielder's effort.
"So close!" exclaimed the USA international, who went on to reflect on the previous time he faced on in Premiership action against Middlesbrough last term. "The last one I faced I saved and they scored from the rebound."
Kasey added that a post-match chat with Sky television's Chris Kamara confirmed his suspicion that the award should not have been given in the first place against Anthony Gardner.
"It's a shame because it wasn't a penalty. I spoke with Chris Kamara a little bit afterwards and he said it was definitely a foul on Tony to start the thing off.
"It is frustrating when these things happen, but they do happen."
Kasey Keller reasons that fortune was certainly not working in his favour when he just failed to keep out David Dunn's disputed spot-kick at St Andrews on Saturday.
