Kasey: We're going places

Posted on 14 August 2001 - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Kasey Keller says he feels like he’s walked into a ‘winning environment’ at Spurs.
We wrapped up the signing of the American international goalkeeper on a free transfer on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old made no secret that a few clubs had shown an interest in his services but Glenn Hoddle’s revolution at the Lane proved too much to resist.
Kasey revealed: “I’m very excited. I had to weigh up the options that I had and I was very close to going to Istanbul but the Spurs thing came up and it seemed like the best move all round.
“I know there is going to be good competition here but it’s a big club and it feels like a winning environment.”
So why choose Spurs? “It was a combination of things,” he explained. “Obviously I’m back in London, where I spent four and a half years at Millwall.
“It looks like with the manager and set up here that the club is going places, no doubt about it.
“It means good security for my family as well and it resurrects my time back in England. I had two great years in Spain and it was an opportunity to come back to the Premiership, which is just growing and growing.
“Spain went really well. Some interesting things happened while I was there but for the most part it was a good experience.
“The Spanish League has done very well in the last few years but there is a big, big buzz about the Premiership and it’s nice to be back.”
But he knows he now faces the toughest fight of all — challenging last season’s Player of the Year Neil Sullivan for his number one position.
“I wish I could have been here two or three weeks ago but it didn’t work out that way,” he added. “I’ve come in, realise I’m in for a fight and I’ll go from there. It’s all about taking your chance when you get it.”
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
