Instead, boss Bruce Arena will hand the jersey to Blackburn's Brad Friedel as the Premiership-based goalkeepers battle it out for the number one spot in Japan and Korea this summer.
Kasey did his chances no harm earlier this month when he kept four clean sheets in five games and skippered the USA to success in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
But it has been agreed that Friedel will play against Italy and Kasey will return for the USA's next friendly against Christian Ziege's Germany next month.
The USA also play Ireland, Holland and Uruguay before departing for the World Cup.
"We've got some big games," Kasey explained. "We've this game in Italy then in March we play in Germany and then in Apil in Ireland and before we leave for Japan a couple of games in the States against Holland and Uruguay.
"I'm not playing against Italy but playing against Germany. He'll play Brad in that one but I'm still going over there as part of the squad. It's all about starting to build a team.
"It will be a totally different team to the one that played in the Gold Cup in the States.
"The coach had players in the States to play those games and now he'll swap it around again with the players based in Europe. From the Ireland game onwards we'll then start meshing a team together."
Kasey Keller has already boosted his World Cup hopes - he'll sit it out in the USA's glamour friendly in Italy tonight.
