Kasey on DC

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Kasey Keller reports that his USA team-mates from DC United are already looking forward to facing us for the Capital Cup in May.

The end-of-season encounter comes after the Washington-based MLS outfit provided the opposition for the Tottenham Tribute Match at the Lane in October.

We make the return trip to the RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. for a match which will see the winners lift the Capital Cup - a trophy being established as part of a plan to match clubs from capital cities worldwide in friendly competition.

Kasey, who stretched his run to 18 unbeaten internationals on home soil when the US beat Venezuela 2-0 a fortnight ago, commented: "It will be interesting. It's a few days out there and it should be a good game.

"I know the DC guys were excited when I talked to them at the last national game. They were really happy to come over here and hopefully we'll have a decent game in return."

DC United have acquired a number of new players for their forthcoming MLS campaign including Hristo Stoitchkov and Galin Ivanov, former and current Bulgarian internationals respectively, and striker Earnie Stewart, who has 85 caps for the USA and spent the last 14 seasons in Dutch football, most recently with NAC Breda.

Kasey added: "They are a totally different team to what we saw earlier in our season. They've brought in some very good players and it will be interesting to see how they can gel together."

The game has been organised with the assistance of Lane legend Jurgen Klinsmann and his company Soccer Solutions. As well as the match, the Club's itinerary will include a series of coaching seminars in and around Washington, D.C.

The trip is part of our international development strategy which will see further international dates announced before the end of April.
