Kasey Keller reported himself happy with a tough work out against Stevenage Borough on Tuesday evening - the goals from Broadhall Way are now available to view (Click the audio/video link above).
The USA international was one of just two players to complete the full 90 minutes as Jacques Santini examined his options and he feels it was a good exercise for the squad against a committed Conference outfit.
"Oh yes, I had a bit more work to do than I was anticipating," he reflected afterwards. "Credit to Stevenage, the did a great job and put a big effort in. We had a bit of a chopped up team with a lot of youngsters - me and young Michael Malcolm were the only ones who played the whole game.
"We chopped and changed, but hung in there and I was able to make a good save when it was still 1-0. We then got the second goal, but then slipped up a little bit at the end. These things happen but the win was there and that's all that matters really."
Kasey added that such a contest is ideal at this stage of pre-season before we step up and take on the likes of Hull City, Sheffield United and Rangers in the coming days.
"It never hurts, it lets the coach find out who is ready for the bigger jump physically. That is always important when you've got kids stepping up and I think they saw a lot from a few people.
"Now it is nice that Ledley is back, along with Fredi and Paul has joined us now. We're starting to get everyone back in and we've got a busy schedule now."
