The French striker - stretchered off in the final minutes of the 2-1 win over Leicester on Sunday after a heavy challenge on his ankle - had an initial X-ray and this afternoon went for scans for a more detailed analysis.
David explained that he is not yet in a position to relay the full extent of the injury, but does not suspect a fracture at this stage.
"Not fully, we don't think there is anything broken though," said David. "He is having scans done as I speak and we'll have a good idea very soon of how long he is going to be out for.
"It is quite painful for him."
