Harry Kane was delighted with the fast start our Under-21s made in Tuesday’s 4-1 victory against Newcastle United.

Souleymane Coulibaly fired us into the lead just 19 seconds into the game at Hotspur Way, setting us up to hit four in a dominant first half display.

Harry was responsible for our fourth goal of the match – a fine strike into the far corner from 20 yards out – and afterwards he spoke of his delight at our performance.

“We played well in the first half,” began the England Under-21s forward. “We came out of the blocks firing, we scored in the first minute of the game and I thought we were excellent.

“In the first 35 to 40 minutes we kept the ball, we got our goals and we were cruising.

“They got one back before half-time but then in the second half I thought we saw the job out well. We kept the ball, both sides had a few chances, we should have scored, but overall it was a good game today.”

Harry’s strike followed efforts from Andros Townsend and Kenny McEvoy in a blistering opening half-hour.

And after the game the striker admitted he was delighted with his goal, which saw him turn his man on the edge of the box and fire beyond Newcastle goalkeeper Jak Alnwick.

“It was a good strike,” he said. “When you practise it in training and it comes off like that you’re happy.

“It’s obviously nice to get on the score sheet, especially like that.”
