Fans were advised to arrive early for ticket collections and to take advantage of the additional facility of being able to pay on turnstiles on the night.
The result was almost 35,000 fans in their seats in time for the 8pm kick-off and able to enjoy a 3-1 win and progress to the quarter-finals.
Executive Director Paul Barber commented: “Given that over 11,000 fans bought tickets after Friday’s postal deadline, the Club organised extra staff, extra stewards, loud hailers and a maximum number of collection windows.
“Additionally, given postal issues, duplicate tickets were prepared and on hand.
“Once again, we would like to thank the fans, the staff, the stewards and the media who helped publicise our advice to arrive early. It all made for a thoroughly successful evening.”
The Club would like to thank supporters for their co-operation in making Wednesday night's Carling Cup tie against Port Vale such a success.
