The thrilling 3-2 win against Charlton last weekend lifted us up to third place in the table - level on points with the Addicks in the second, with four wins and three draws to out name from the opening eight matches.
"It's very early days, we made a good start and we need to build on it," said Michael, now stepping up his training after missing the last two wins against Fulham and Charlton with an ankle injury.
At the start of the season we'd have settled for 15 points at this stage
"But it is only a start and we have to maintain it - if you want to achieve things you have to do it for the full season. We have to be consistent now and try to put together a little run."
Michael explained the importance of that comeback against Charlton. "In those games it's not always about how you play but getting the three points. That's the biggest thing when you play teams around you in the table - if you can nick those results it can take you places."
Michael Carrick says it's vital to build on our positive start to the Premiership campaign.
