Juande Ramos feels his team owe it to the fans to claim three points against Sunderland at The Lane on Saturday.
The Head Coach has made no secret of his disappointment after our opening day defeat at the hands of Middlesbrough last weekend.
And now he has called for maximum effort in order for the players to put things right against Roy Keane's Black Cats.
Juande said: "It's always our aim to win for the fans and this is going to be an entertaining game.
"Above all, we want to win for the fans who made that long trip to Boro last weekend and give them something back. Hopefully we can make up for that defeat for them.
"We know that it's a long league season ahead, but we can't deny that it was a bad first game and to start with a defeat wasn't good.
"Let's the hope that Saturday's game gives us the chance to put things right with a victory, and then we can return to normal.
"We are conscious that we put in a very good pre-season, but we also know that we have to put in maximum effort in games in order to win them."
The corresponding fixture with Sunderland last season resulted in a 2-0 home win, but the game itself was so much closer than the scoreline suggests.
"I expect no different this season," added Juande. "Like every team these days, Sunderland are very organised and they make things difficult because they compete.
"What's always vital is the first goal when it's a tight game, and until that first goal comes, imposing yourself can often be difficult.
"So let's hope we get a first goal early and then after that we can start to play and maybe get a good result."
An exclusive interview with Juande is now available on Spurs TV Online.
