Juande Ramos is aiming for victory against Wigan on Sunday to kick-start a climb up the Premier League. We go into this key clash at the Lane level on points with Wigan but out of the bottom three following last weekend’s draw at Middesbrough.

Wigan, meanwhile, recently parted company with manager Chris Hutchins and travel south to London on a run of six-successive defeats. Frank Barlow is in caretaker charge of the team.

“When teams are at the bottom and are in a period between managers you never know how the players are going to react,” reasoned Juande. “I am sure Wigan are just as motivated as us to get out of the situation that we both find ourselves in..

“We have to go game by game. I think the next game is going to be crucial in terms of joining the teams in the middle of the table and from there in the second half of the season we will try to get in the European places.

“It is still a little too soon and we need to see how the team is going to respond. It so important for us to get a victory against Wigan because if we don’t we miss out on the chance of making it to mid-table.”
