Juande Ramos is well aware of the threat of Michael Owen going into Sunday's clash at the Lane.Head Coach Juande did not come up against the England international during the striker's time at Real Madrid - Juande was between coaching jobs at Malaga and Sevilla in Owen’s only season in La Liga, 2004-05.

But he knows all about the Newcastle number 10’s threat. “He’s a magnificent player and very dangerous,” said Head Coach Juande. “We will have to look out for him, paying attention to what he does throughout the game. Hopefully, defensively, we’ll be as good as we were against Portsmouth.”

Juande is also backing Kevin Keegan to pull his side out of trouble – one win in the last 14 sees the Toon still looking over their shoulders in the Barclays Premier League.

“When you go to a new team it’s very difficult,” reasoned Juande. “He is a manager with a great deal of experience managing a lot of different teams and I’m sure he’ll be able to get Newcastle out of the situation they find themselves in at the moment.

“It will be a great game,” Juande continued. “We hope to put on a performance that’s the same or better than Portsmouth.

“Newcastle have a great squad but their performances are lower than expected at the moment. They are in a situation where they need points, so it’s going to be an interesting game.”
