Both late goals carried significance - it was Gilberto’s first for the club and he became only the ninth Spur to score on his league debut.
Meanwhile, Darren’s fine header in injury time was the 100th goal of his career in just 246 matches for Ipswich, Charlton and Spurs.

“It was important to have a victory in order to recover some confidence,” said Head Coach Juande. “We had a difficult match against PSV and it was important to get a good result after two defeats.
“The early goals made winning the game much easier, I saw the team was much calmer and reassured and we were in control for large parts of the match. To score two goals at the end made it even better.”
The win narrowed the gap between us and West Ham to five points with a game in hand as we attempt to climb into the top 10 in the Barclays Premier League.
“We have a game in hand although it’s against Chelsea, so that’s a tough one and we have work to do yet,” added Juande. “Five points to make up is quite difficult but we have to work and try to get as many points as we can.”
