Simon Davies produced arguably his best display of the season in the 5-1 win, Andy Reid opened his account with a stunning 30-yard strike while Michael Carrick and Sean Davis bossed the central area.
The result took us above Middlesbrough into seventh place and set up a cracker against Steve McClaren's men on Saturday as we battle for European places.
Head Coach Martin said: "Carrick is getting better and better and you shouldn't forget Sean Davis was out for months, he's still trying to get his 100 per cent fitness back and has done really well.
"Simon came back after his injury, played all the games and did superbly. Against Villa he was a nine (out of 10), normally he's always seven or eight. He's such a fit player and he's always winning balls, he's got flair and he looks good. That is always good for the team. He was outstanding.
"Andy was always good on the ball going forward and gained confidence out of that."
Martin Jol marvelled at his midfield marvels after the performance against Aston Villa.
