And while his choice won’t come as a surprise, Martin admitted he won’t be forgetting in a hurry the first goal as Head Coach back in November.
That was the opener against Burnley in the Carling Cup at Turf Moor as Michael Carrick, in for his first start, crossed for Robbie Keane to finish.
Here’s what Martin had to say on his favourite goals of the season.
“I was very pleased with the first goal against Burnley. It was very good to have a win there and that first goal will be on my mind for a long time.
“The Defoe goal against Arsenal was an unbelievable goal.
“I like the third goal Robbie Keane scored against Portsmouth. That was a marvellous goal, a little chip over the goalkeeper.
“The free-kick against West Brom was well worked and Jermain Defoe stuck it in the net under the bar.
“The best match we had was Everton at home and Dean Marney’s second goal, the bending ball into the top corner was a great goal.
“But I have to say Erik Edman’s goal against Liverpool was probably the best of the season.”
