Martin Jol paid tribute to the performance of Michael Carrick following his fine midfield display against Southampton.
Michael was bordering on majestic against the Saints, pulling the strings in the middle of the park, protecting the back four and played a key role in two of the five goals.
The Head Coach was unstinting in his praise of the summer recruit from West Ham after the game, describing him as 'a real Tottenham player'.
"Michael is one of the most complete midfield players I have seen in my life," considered Martin. "He can pass the ball, he is skillful, he works for the team and closes people down.
"I heard that in the past he was maybe considered as a luxury player but, from what I've seen of him, he is a real Tottenham player. He has got everything I want in a player, a top mentality and I think he and the other players showed this against Southampton.
"We have to work hard to go places and we all want to achieve something."
