WE CAN EXPECT a lot of passion when we step out to take on Besiktas this evening. The Turkish players play with their hearts and fight for every ball.
They play with a slightly different system, there are two good strikers with another on the bench - who is also very good - so they have a choice to make. The midfield is strong, Kleberson is out, but they have Delgado the Argentinean who plays in the hole.
Besiktas attack with their full-backs and have a powerful and effective central defence with Mercimek and Zan, both big players who are good in the air.
We have got a big task on our hands. We need a result and a draw would also be a good one.
People will remember Jean Tigana at Fulham playing a patient passing game, but Turkish football is full of passion and when you play with that you always play with a high tempo.
We have seen five games, Chrissie was there on Sunday while I was in Belgium watching Club Brugge and from what we've seen of them they play at a good pace with wide players - Burak being a real threat.
It will be a full house and when you hear the noise from that sort of crowd it pushes them on and they battle. We saw them against Trabzonspor, it was a big game for them and it is a very good league now.
The atmosphere is something very different to what you come across elsewhere, they really do make a noise. Our fans will go there, have a good experience and give us the support they always do. They will show that Tottenham supporters are among the best in the world.
They will find though that the Turkish supporters are probably the noisiest!
Hopefully Ledley will be fine, he had a problem with his knee, but he is a tough lad and this is an important one for us. We are playing on Sunday too so we have to make choices and it is the same with Hossam.
He will be a late decision, but he has tried hard because they all want to come with us to Istanbul. Teemu is still out, while Jermain had a little problem with his foot on Tuesday but is here with us. Mido has a thigh problem and did not make the trip.
Everybody else looks fine in midfield and I will have to make a decision on Michael Dawson, whether to spare him until Sunday. Calum broke his nose but he is a strong boy.
I have got a few choices to make and hopefully I will make the right ones.
