Over 21,000 fans turned up to watch our sole home friendly of the summer against Italian outfit Cagliari on Saturday.
Martin hasn't been used to such support in friendly matches back home in Holland and it has certainly whet his appetite for the real thing come this weekend.
"Liverpool is a very big game and I'm looking forward to it," stated our first assistant coach.
"Against Cagliari it was unbelievable, almost 22,000 in the stadium so a full house against Liverpool, you have to look forward to that.
"That support is one of the reasons I'm here. When we played against Stevenage there were 7,000 there, when we played Hull, 13,000, Rangers, 40,000. That's what football's all about here.
"It's been a long pre-season, lots of matches and a few difficulties here and there with injuries but I'm optimistic."
Martin Jol is looking forward to experiencing a full house at the Lane for our Premiership opener against Liverpool on Saturday after witnessing our superb support in pre-season.
