Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Martin Jol as first assistant to Head Coach Jacques Santini. Like Santini, Jol will also join the Club after the European Championships in Portugal.

Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy commented: "I am delighted that Martin will be joining the new coaching set up. His reputation as a progressive coach, knowledge of both English and European football, in addition to his man management skills, will enhance our coaching team even further. The calibre of those clubs who have shown a serious interest in him is testament to his talents. His qualities will complement greatly those of Jacques Santini and I’m confident that they will make an excellent team."

Jacques Santini, Spurs’ Head Coach commented: "All successful coaches have excellent assistants and I am very pleased I will have Martin as mine. He knows the English game extremely well and that knowledge and experience will be invaluable in helping us to implement our coaching ideas and methods as quickly as possible."

Tottenham Hotspur Sporting Director Frank Arnesen commented: "Martin is someone I know well from my time in the Netherlands and he has a well-deserved reputation for being an excellent coach who uses very modern methods. I have monitored his progress closely because he has a wealth of knowledge about the game and is very technically minded. I am very happy that he is bringing those excellent qualities to Tottenham Hotspur."

Following his appointment Martin Jol said: "I am extremely happy to be joining Tottenham Hotspur. I know the Club well from my time in England as a player. I enjoyed my time at RKC but I wanted a new and exciting challenge. Joining such a great club as Tottenham Hotspur is the right opportunity for me. I regard Jacques Santini as one of the best coaches in Europe and am very excited at the prospect of working with him, Frank Arnesen and all the good players that we have at the Club."
