In fact, our assistant boss suggests ‘Sully’ will welcome the competition and that the American international’s nature will mean he will fight tooth and nail for the number one spot.
John said: “Kasey won’t see it as coming in as number two and we won’t want him to see it that way.
“At the moment Neil is number one, he’s been magnificent and long may that continue but in football you get injuries, suspensions and you have to be ready.
“We now have a goalkeeper who is very capable if he gets in the team and ready to compete. That competition is what we want. Neil will want that as well and I’m sure they will work well together.”
John added that it was quite a coup to land the former Millwall and Leicester City star.
“The thing for Neil and everyone is that we need competition for every position,” he added. “No disrespect to Gavin Kelly, who is a young player and we are pleased with his progress, but we needed another experienced goalkeeper after the departure of Ian Walker.
“Of course, we’ve been trying to get one and we’ve been fortunate enough to get one with vast experience, someone who has played at the highest level, played in the Premier League and it’s a bit of a coup for us really.
“He’s played in World Cups, is very fit and still has a lot to offer.”
John Gorman insists new goalkeeper Kasey Keller hasn’t just come to Tottenham as Neil Sullivan’s number two.
