John Harris

Posted on 30 September 2003  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Everybody at the club was saddened to learn that on 22 September John Harris passed away at the age of 58.

A life-long Spurs supporter, John will be known to many fans from his appearance in the club's 1993 official video history when he revealed a fraction of his huge memorabilia collection.

That collection included a vast array of books and newspaper reports that formed the basis of The Glory, Glory Nights book published by the club in 1986 to record our adventures in European football.

A Chartered Accountant, John preferred to remain a sole practitioner as this allowed him to indulge in his passion for Spurs that saw him witness all but one of the 'Double' season games. He was also a pioneer of the club's early days in European competition.

While nothing was allowed to get in the way of following Spurs, John had many interests outside football including a life-long interest in the life of Winston Churchill, the TE Lawrence Society, Bentley Drivers Club, MCC and was also an active supporter of several charities.

A man with an unquenchable thirst for life, John’s friendliness and ever-ready smile will be sadly missed by his many friends and acquaintances.

John is survived by wife, Sharon, son, Robert, daughter, Melinda and mother, Gertie. Our condolences are with them all at this sad time.
