The participants have been working in the Foundation’s Volunteering Kiosk at Wembley Stadium on matchdays to gain vital skills and work experience for the hospitality and catering industry.
As a further reward, the successful young people were introduced to the crowd during the half-time interval at last Saturday’s match against West Brom.
Staffed solely by 16- to 24-year-olds living within the local area around Wembley, all volunteers working at the Kiosk are guaranteed an interview for a job with Delaware upon completion of the course.
The Volunteering Kiosk forms part of the Club’s commitment to providing community development, training and employment opportunities to local people during our season at Wembley.
The initiative provides support for unemployed young people, as well as those with learning difficulties.
Deena Patel, one of the young people to have gained employment through the initiative, said: “For me, the Volunteering Kiosk has been invaluable – I’ve been able to gain the right type of work experience that employers are looking for. Thanks to support from Tottenham Hotspur, I’m now more confident in the working environment and I am really excited to start my new job.”
Kyle Blake, another participant from the scheme, said: “Working at the Volunteering Kiosk was the first real taste of work experience I’ve had. Now, I’ve secured my first ever job and I’m so happy to be working and becoming more independent.”
Nikki Kelly, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, said: “We’re thrilled that all of the young people from Brent who have been staffing our Matchday Volunteering Kiosk since August have been successful in securing employment here at Wembley stadium.
“For many of the participants, this is the first real chance they’ve had to get vital work experience – something that employers consider essential for prospective employees.
“I wish all of our young people the best of luck with their new jobs, and we will of course continue to support them on their employment journey.”
