The lads responded as Aaron Lennon's first goal in a Spurs shirt handed us the lead after 65 minutes before Robbie Keane wrapped up a 2-0 win with 77 minutes on the clock.
"It is a cliche in England but that is what we were shouting about before the game - getting back to winning ways.
"All the other teams had won but we had to focus on our own game.
"It wasn't nice playing later knowing all the results but we knew we had to get the win. That was the only thing that mattered.
"We wanted the lads to show plenty of character and they have us that.
"Last season we ended up with 52 points and now we are on that total again, so that is great progress we have made."
