Twelve youngsters from Hertfordshire, Essex and North London have successfully completed the 2005/06 Premiership season with Tottenham Hotspur as part of the White Hart Lane Ball-boy/girl squad.

Having worked as ball boys and girls this season, the team were presented with certificates on the famous White Hart Lane pitch by midfielder Jermaine Jenas before the team's final home game of the year against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

Last year the young football fans were regulars on the Tottenham Hotspur football coaching courses held at a number of venues across the region, and were selected in June to join the squad.

Tottenham Hotspur Football Development Manager Mark Jones said: "The ball-boy/girl team have been fantastic throughout the season and have worked really hard. In recognition of their efforts Jermaine presented them with certificates on Sunday. The role of the Club's ball-boy/girl squad is very important and they have all contributed to the skilled, reliable and enthusiastic team we have had on board this season."

The young Tottenham Hotspur ball-boy/girls have played an important role this season. Spurs have only lost at home twice this season and throughout the 90-minute games and pre-match warm-ups, the ball-boy/girls have to be alert and put into practise the techniques and procedures they have been taught to keep the game flowing smoothly.

This season's ball boy/girl squad was chosen by the coaches of the Tottenham Hotspur football coaching courses. Potential members of the team had all taken part on Tottenham Hotspur coaching courses held at various venues in North London, Enfield, Essex and Hertfordshire and the final squad was then chosen following specific training sessions to assess their technique and gauge their understanding of what the players and manager expect from the ball-boy/girl service.

As this season draws to a close, the recruitment process for the Tottenham Hotspur ball-boy/girl squad for next season begins again. Next season's squad will also be chosen by the Tottenham Hotspur coaches and all children taking part in the Tottenham Hotspur coaching courses held at our venues in North London, Enfield, Essex and Hertfordshire during the May/June half-term will have the chance to be selected.
