Coach Jimmy took the opportunity to look at a few of the lads arriving next term in the final weeks of the season and was impressed.
Unfortunately, the lads didn't progress to the quarter-finals of the FA Premier Academy League play-offs but finished their campaign with a creditable draw at Liverpool at the weekend.
Jimmy reflected: "We got some good results at the end of the season.
"Unfortunately the play-offs didn't work out that well for us but before that we got one or two very good results, Southampton, Birmingham away and that was with some of the youngsters, so it will be interesting to see how they get on when they come in next season."
As for the season as a whole, Jimmy pondered: "It's been a bit disappointing results-wise. When you look at the games, a lot of the goals we've conceded have been through our poor play rather than good play against us.
"So it's up to these boys to go up to Pat Holland and the under-19s next season, work hard at their game and try to improve.
"Some have improved, some haven't but it's a tough game and it's hard to progress. You've got to have something about you.
"One or two have got to show a bit more but some have done well. I've enjoyed the season. It's a long season and each of the boys have worked hard."
Jimmy Neighbour has a positive outlook on next season after a promising end to the season from his young Under-17 squad.
