Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

JIMMY GREAVES (1961-70)

The greatest goalscorer in our history and, arguably, ever - certainly in British football.
Jimmy Greaves' record speaks for itself - an amazing 266 goals in 380 games in the league, FA and League Cups and European competition.

He was cunningly signed from AC Milan for £99,999 by Bill Nicholson, to avoid him becoming the first £100,000 player, and perhaps the biggest compliment of all is that most considered that his arrival made the 'double' team ever better.

Quick with superb control and positional sense, Greaves was simply a natural goalscorer famed for coolly rolling the ball into the net rather than blasting it.

He won two FA Cups, the European Cup Winners Cup and 42 England caps at Spurs (57 in total) but missed out on the World Cup Final in 1966 when he was hit by hepatitis.

Greaves moved on to West Ham in March 1970 but retired at the end of 1970-71 and later fought a very public battle against alcoholism before a new life as a popular television and newspaper pundit.
Appearances/goals: 321/220 (Lg), 36/32 (FAC), 8/5 (LC), 14/9 (Eur).
