The thoughts and best wishes of everyone at the Club are with Jimmy Greaves and his family after the legendary striker suffered a severe stroke yesterday (Sunday, May 3). He is in intensive care in hospital.

Our greatest-ever goalscorer, Jimmy tops our all-time scoring list with 266 goals in 379 appearances between 1961-70.

He scored in the 1962 FA Cup Final and 1963 European Cup Winners Cup Final and added a second FA Cup in 1967.

A member of England's World Cup winning squad in 1966, Jimmy also scored 44 goals in 57 caps, placing him fourth in England's all-time scoring list.

Jimmy had a minor stroke in 2012 and appeared to have made a full recovery. He turned 75 on February 20, and was due to be inducted into the Club's Hall of Fame on May 13.

Once again, our thoughts go out to Jimmy, his wife Irene and his family at this difficult time.
