Pre-season with Jesus Perez...

Our Assistant Head Coach Jesus Perez continues his insight into pre-season training as the countdown now hits days rather than weeks to the big Premier League kick-off at Manchester United.

Everything went really well in America . After the long journey out to Colorado last Sunday we trained hard on Monday and Tuesday, the players fulfilled their commercial duties and we then played a prestigious game against the MLS All-Stars.

We came home without any (injury) problems and that was the most important thing. We enjoyed the trip.

After arriving back on Thursday, we completed the week's training.

Friday was all about recovery and on Saturday it was back to a regular session to prepare for the Audi Cup* this week.

The is the final week before start of the Premier League and the Audi Cup will be a great test as we try to get into a rhythm before we play Manchester United on Saturday (August 8, 12.45pm).

For us, pre-season finishes at the end of this week but after the first match, preparation continues as there are three clear weeks to keep improving the team before the first international break (qualifying matches September 4-8). That is a big opportunity for us so although we'll start to play official matches in the Premier League, we will continue to work hard.

*We play Real Madrid at the Allianz Arena, Munich on Tuesday (August 4, 5.15pm UK time) before facing either Bayern Munich or AC Milan on Wednesday evening.
