Jermain Defoe reports that he kept close tabs of the progress of his former West Ham teammate Fredi Kanoute since he headed to Spurs in the summer.
The pair will be reunited as current clubmates when Fredi returns from international duty with Mali and our newest recruit says he is looking forward to linking up with him again.
"I've seen every goal that he's scored for Spurs and Fredi is a great player," said Jermain, who feels injuries prevented him showing his full worth last term. "Last season he was unfortunate to have a few injuries, but he is looking sharp now and is back to his best.
"He is a top player and a some people might not have realised how good because of his injuries. Now he is showing what he can do.
"He is a nice man and it is easy to get on with him. He is good to talk to and I am looking forward to him getting back."
Jermain knows to expect hot competition for striking places when Fredi returns and Helder Postiga recovers from his hamstring injury, but is not fazed by the challenge.
"It is what it's all about really, when you come to a club like Tottenham there is going to be great strikers. It is down to me, I've got to get my head down, work hard and hopefully get in the team," he added, before emphasising what currency he trades in.
"I just love scoring goals. I try to get in positions where I can score, that is what I've been doing and hopefully I can keep on doing it."
