The deadline beating move was completed ahead of the 5pm closure on Monday and Jermain says the first he heard of the transfer was on Sunday evening when he was sitting at home contemplating West Ham's next game.
"If I'm being totally honest, I didn't expect anything to happen," recalled the 21-year-old. "I was actually just sitting at home looking forward to West Ham's game with Bradford if I was selected.
"This was a bit of a shock, but I am delighted that is has happened and now I want to get on with my football," he added, before revealing that it did not take him too long to decide on joining Spurs.
"Obviously I sat down with my family and spoke about it. I made the decision and I am clear about it and very much looking forward to it."
