Harry Redknapp reported that Jermain Defoe looked as sharp as ever as he returned to full training on Tuesday.
The striker has been out since early February after suffering a stress fracture of the right foot and was clearly straining at the leash to get back out there and do what he does best - score goals.
"It's a big boost for us," said Harry at the Lodge on Wednesday morning. "He was talking to the lads earlier and told them he couldn't sleep the night before because he was so excited about returning to training.
"He was up very early, just like a kid at his first day at school.
"He's full of enthusiasm and he trained superbly on Tuesday, he looked really sharp scored some fantastic goals.
"He's back and that's a big bonus for us. I'm sure there are a few goals left in him before the end of the season."
