January 8: Can't keep Gus quiet!

Posted on 8 January 2002  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

I have one thing to say before Wednesday's game against Chelsea - what a semi-final!

If you see the results between us recently we are not the favourites but perhaps that's not such a bad thing.

We also play the first leg away and I'm happy with that because you can change anything at home and you have the chance to have a good result away first. I always prefer to play away first.

People talk about Chelsea's inconsistency this season and at the moment Chelsea and Tottenham are nearly the same. That is good news for us.

Chelsea are very difficult to play, especially for Tottenham, but look at the game against Southampton and that shows you can do something at Stamford Bridge.

Of course, Gus Poyet is getting ready to play against his old club and we can't keep him quiet at the moment!

He is talking all the time. He does anyway but especially now. It is a big game for him and I can understand now why he is still a hero at Chelsea.

I don't think it was such a bad thing that Saturday's FA Cup game at Coventry was postponed.

We had four games in 10 days and it was very hard. When you keep going like that there will come a moment when you feel a little tight.

The season is long anway in England but Christmas and New Year is always difficult for every player. We had a short break on Saturday and that came at the right time.

It's been pointed out that I'm ahead in a poll for the player of the season so far on this website.

It is nice to hear that but let's talk about that last three or four games. At the moment we are in a good way, perhaps I am in a good way but it still half a season to go.

We have a good chance to win the Worthington Cup, still in the FA Cup and we have the chance to finish in the top six in the Premier League. At half season it is good news for the club. For me it is nice to hear that but I have to keep going.

It is a big compliment for me. It is a part of the manager, his team, his style.

I played some good games under George Graham but we have a new manager and he has a different style of football.

You can have success with different systems and philosophies. If people like my game more than before, that is a good thing.

As a player, you have to look at a manager, what he wants and likes in your position and try to give him that.
