“We can look for excuses, two days less rest, but I don’t think this team is like that,” stated the Belgian defender immediately after our 1-0 win against Qarabag in Azerbaijan on Thursday night.
“We will be ready on Sunday, the Lane will help us and it’s a London derby, so we don’t need to look for motivation. We will be there and ready for them.”
It’s the third and final instalment of November’s triple-header of London derbies and after a draw at Arsenal and 4-1 win against West Ham last time out, we go into Sunday’s match on a 12-match unbeaten run in the Premier League.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have stuttered at the start of this season - they are currently 15th - but Jan expects Jose Mourinho’s men to be at their best at the Lane.

“They have so much quality,” he said. “They are doing better than at the beginning of the season and they will feel they have to beat us on Sunday, so we have to be ready for that.
“A London derby is always something different, especially against Chelsea.”
Outstanding for us this season, Jan and central defensive partner Toby Alderweireld will have their hands full against Diego Costa.
“He’s good,” said Jan. “He keeps you switched on. He’s a very good striker and we will have keep ourselves going against him. He’s one of the best in the league and we’ll have to be at 100% to stop him.”
