With his side trailing to Antonio Candreva’s early opener, Jan stooped low to powerfully head home a corner from Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne to get the Red Devils back on level terms with 13 minutes played.

It was the defender’s first international goal since he famously scored against South Korea at the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil and takes his total of senior goals for his country to six.

Belgium went on to secure a 3-1 win thanks to further strikes from De Bruyne and Michy Batshuayi, with Jan completing the full 90 minutes along with Toby Alderweireld at the back. Mousa Dembele was an unused substitute.
