The defender conceded to a sense of frustration at allowing the hosts back into the tie after Nacer Chadli fired us into the lead in the second half at Turf Moor.
After the first half ended in stalemate, Nacer volleyed home goal number nine in all competitions this season after 56 minutes.
We were in the ascendancy at that point but Burnley fought their way back into the game and levelled through Sam Vokes on 73 minutes.
That’s how it ended in a match of few clear-cut chances and we will now replay at the Lane on either January 14 or 15 – date as yet to be confirmed.
“Burnley tried to put us under pressure but we didn’t do particularly well in the first half,” reflected Jan, captain on the night.
“In the second half we were better and there were possibilities. We scored a good goal and we were in control at that point and it’s a shame they scored to make it 1-1.
“We wanted do the job here and go through to the next round but hopefully we’ll do it back at the Lane.
“The important thing is to go through and that’s what we want to do. It’s a shame we couldn’t do it tonight but we stay in the flow, we haven’t lost for a while now and we can keep it going.”
