Jamie Redknapp revealed that he did not know what was going on in the build up to Robbie Keane's leveller against Arsenal on Sunday - but he still asked the referee for a penalty!
Confusion reigned in the melee that followed Jens Lehmann's shove on Robbie and few could have realised that a penalty would follow referee Mr Halsey's consultation with his assistant.
Thankfully, that is what emerged, but Jamie felt it was worth asking anyway.
"To be honest, I didn't see it," reflected the captain. "I realised something was going on and I went to the ref and said 'it is definitely a penalty' and I didn't even know what was happening!
"I thought he must have done something."
Meanwhile, Jamie reported that it was a boost when looking at the clock after scoring his goal to find that there was nearly half an hour remaining in game to chase a leveller.
"It's true, when I scored I did look up and thought we had plenty of time to do something. Even then, it was only late on when they gave us more time and space that we started to open them up a little bit.
"From what people have told me, it was a great game to watch and the penalty at the end added to the excitement. There was some good football played at times - by them and us."
