Eyebrows have been raised in some quarters because Jamie didn't feature in our first three friendlies in our Swedish training camp.
But, as Chris explains, that was down to Jamie's own pre-season regime and he will get his first run out of the summer against either Hull City on Saturday or Sheffield United on Sunday.
"Jamie hasn't been injured," said Chris. "Of course, over the last couple of years he has experienced problems with his knee and he's at the stage of his career where he knows best how to manage it.
"What I mean by managing it is being available for games and we're all very much looking forward to the start of the season and Jamie being ready.
"He's an experienced player and sometimes that happens with experienced players, they have to work a little bit differently, train a little differently and be a little more cautious. Jamie's at that stage."
Chris Hughton has assured fans that Jamie Redknapp is not injured - the skipper is set for his first pre-season action this weekend.
