Jamie's joy

Jamie O'Hara was delighted to open the team's pre-season goalscoring account at Exeter City.

The midfielder was on the spot to fire home when outstanding Exeter keeper Paul Jones parried Robbie Keane's effort in the 32nd minute.

Jamie played in the first half team as we went on to win 3-0 at St James Park in our first friendly on Wednesday night.

We fielded a completely different team in the second half as Aaron Lennon and Darren Bent completed the scoring.

The game also marked Jamie's first action since undergoing knee surgery in early May.

"It was great to be out there again and get 45 minutes under my belt," beamed Jamie, back at our training camp on Thursday morning.

"I had an operation at the end of last season and I've been out for nine weeks so to come back and score in the first friendly was ideal.

"It was a niggling problem, a bit frustrating but as I said, it was great to be out there again and playing football.

"For me, pre-season is about getting match time under your belt, getting the minutes in and impressing the manager."
