There is no doubting the ability possessed by the younger element of the squad, a clutch of players who it is hoped will fulfil the ambitions of the club in the forthcoming seasons.
Jamie suspects likes of Ledley King, Anthony Gardner, Stephen Kelly, Simon Davies, Sean Davis and Jermain Defoe will flourish under the new coaching and management set-up installed over the summer.
"The young players here are very talented," said the skipper, adding that the team does need to become more vocal on the pitch. "We are quite a quiet team, that is quite obvious, but hopefully with the new management people like Ledley King will now step up and become leaders in this team and I'm sure they will be.
"We've also got new players like Paul Robinson and Sean Davis and I feel it is time for the players here to really show what they've got."
The experienced midfielder has witnessed a number of managerial changes over the course of his career and welcomes the one here led by Jacques Santini and his staff.
"This is a good set-up here. The coaches are good, Martin Jol and Dominique Cuperly have come in with Jacques and Chris Hughton is still here.
"It is a good set-up and everyone is very excited about the coming season. It is all new and I think we needed it, the club needed a new direction with strong characters and I think that's what we've got here."
Jamie Redknapp feels that the new structure put in place at the club will provide the foundations for our talented younger players to really prosper in the future.
