Jamie: Two wins vital

Posted on 6 February 2003  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Jamie Redknapp insists it's vital we pick up maximum points from our next two home games against Sunderland and Fulham.

The midfielder, on his way back from a fractured toe, says it's so tight at the top that every point is precious.

Indeed, we go into Saturday's clash against Sunderland at the Lane sitting ninth in the Premiership after last week's draw at Chelsea, level on points with Charlton and Southampton and just three behind Liverpool in sixth.

"It's very, very tight," reasoned Jamie, who hopes to return to action against Fulham. "A lot of teams are on a similar amount of points and we're three points behind Liverpool in sixth. We can pick that up.

"The important that we win the next two home games against Sunderland and Fulham.

"Look at Villa and how two wins have transformed them. If we can get six points we then go to Upton Park and then we've got Liverpool at home, great games, the crowd will get behind us and the lads will look forward to them as well."

Jamie described the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge as a 'big, big result'.

"It was a great result at Chelsea especially after we lost Dean Richards, Robbie Keane and then Anthony Gardner," he added.

"It was a great team effort to get a point there. Even against Newcastle, I thought we were unlucky to lose.

"But we've got two big home games now, Sunderland and Fulham and we need to take as many points as we can."
