Jamie Redknapp described Rio Ferdinand's performance against Argentina as 'brilliant' and says David Beckham will be all the better against Nigeria for playing 90 minutes.
Ferdinand took most of the plaudits for a commanding display at centre-half that had observers of a certain age purring and making comparisons with Bobby Moore.
"Brilliant," said Jamie of his Dad's former West Ham charge. "Him and the rest of the defence were absolutely fantastic. The middle of the team was great."
Our poll asking for Man of the Match went resoundingly in favour of Nicky Butt, the tigerish midfielder who shackled the Argentines in his first match for over five weeks. Jamie adds to the praise, while throwing in a few more names for good measure.
"I thought Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes were fantastic, Michael and Emile did really well up front - and Teddy did really well when he came on, which is great news for us.
"The two centre-halves stood out, but I thought David Seaman was brilliant.
"It was everyone though, Beckham was great. He didn't have the kind of influence that he can have, but he scored the winning goal and we needed him.
"Playing the full 90 minutes will do him the world of good."
