The 17-year-old full-back lined-up alongside Paul Robinson, Erik Edman, Noureddine Naybet, Sean Davis, Pedro Mendes and substitute Thimothee Atouba in the Premiership opener.
All seven played their part as we came from 1-0 down in the first half to take the upper hand after the break and deservedly equalise through Jermain Defoe.
"Phil is very confident for a 17-year-old and I think he'll go all the way," said skipper Jamie.
"He's quick, comfortable on the ball and there's not much he can't do. If he keeps his head down he's got a great chance. I said to him afterwards that he should be proud of himself.
"Paul Robinson and Sean Davis know the Premiership inside-out and Sean looked comfortable in there, he's a good player with a bit of everything.
"I thought Pedro did ever so well in there, so did Erik but Naybet for me was fantastic.
"He only had one session with us on Friday, played Saturday and looked great. He looked comfortable, made a couple of great interceptions and blocks and all-round, it was a great performance."
Jamie Redknapp paid tribute to our seven debutants against Liverpool - with another special mention for Philip Ifil.
