Jamie on Anfield return

Posted on 27 August 2003  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Jamie Redknapp says it will be a special moment when he leads the team out at Anfield ahead of tonight's game against Liverpool.

The midfielder conceded that he was pleased to get last season's visit to his former club over and done with, bearing in mind that he had not long departed and most of the attention was focused on him.

This time around he is thoroughly looking forward to it.

"It's slightly different really in the fact that I've already played up there once," he pondered. "I'd only been at the club for a short while at the time, but now I am really looking forward it.

"We had a great result on Saturday which gives us a lot of confidence to go up there - that is the key. We know it will be a tough game, Liverpool haven't had the greatest of starts, but you've only got to look at their team to see how good they are."

And it is not as if Jamie is not very used to leading teams out at Anfield...

"It will be a special moment for me, I'm not going to deny that, to be captain of Tottenham going back to my old club. It will be a nice moment for me and I'm looking forward to it.

"It was a really big result for us at the weekend. I saw their chief scout in the director's box and I'm sure he sent back a favourable report.

"We haven't got anything to be scared of, if anything there is more pressure on them than us. If we can start right and keep it tight for a while there is no reason why we can't get something."
