The Football Association have decided to hand skipper Jamie Redknapp a further two-match ban after his tackle on Tim Cahill at Everton on October 2.
Jamie, who apologised to Cahill immediately after the game, said there was no intent in the challenge that received a yellow card at the time. The FA subsequently charged him with serious foul play.
Said Jamie: “Obviously it’s a disappointment to be missing matches but I’m relieved this has all come to a conclusion. Now I can get my head down in training and concentrate on getting back in the squad for the Charlton game on Saturday week.”
Jamie was suspended for the game at Portsmouth last Monday and will now miss tonight’s Carling Cup tie at Bolton Wanderers and the Barclays Premiership visit to Fulham on Saturday.
