We held our own for an hour against the Scottish champions and created the best two chances of the first half at Celtic Park.
Craig Beattie's fine solo opener put the home side in the driving seat and although Mark Yeates struck the woodwork soon after, the clinching second goal arrived eight minutes later.
Positive news saw the debut of Rodrigo Defendi and we finished with youngsters Jamie O'Hara, Kieran McKenna and Mark Yeates in the side.
"I am happy for the team," said Jacques afterwards. "It was a very young team because we have players injured.
"Michael Brown and Dean Richards also had to come off at half-time.
"The young players played a good match and for them, it will be a good experience for the future.
"For me, if this game was important the young team, the most important match is Saturday against Liverpool."
Jacques Santini was pleased for the young players after last night's friendly at Celtic but remained firmly focused on Saturday's opener against Liverpool.
