FA PREMIER ACADEMY LEAGUE
Liverpool U17s 1-1 Spurs
Schoolboy Jack Maghoma made sure our Under-17s finished their competitive season in style with a deserved draw at Liverpool.
Maghoma, an Under-15 player at the club, grabbed the equaliser in the second half as both sides experimented with young teams in this final play-off encounter.
Coach Jimmy Neighbour takes up the story. "The lads did well. We took a very young team, a lot of Under-16s and some Under-15s and we matched them.
"They had a very young team as well but neither us or them could progress further in the play-offs so it was an ideal opportunity to have a look at the boys for next season.
"It was a very even game, a nice end of season game for everyone to show us what they could do.
"They scored in the first half with a clever chip but we had one or two decent chances after that that we didn't put away.
"Second half we came out and we were the better team by far. A lot of the game was played in their half, we hit the post twice and we eventually scored a good goal from a young Under-15 lad who came on as sub, Jack Maghoma.
"So I was quite pleased with the performance and it was a very good exercise for us."
